Guys sorry to start a new thread, but now I think I may have a second fired Whitworth. I took some pics with droped Whitworths and some droped Enfields. Both fired are much small round than the Enfield and one took a niose hit to it. I dug them in Middle Tennessee and know that we had the guns around here. I was looking for some one to post up on the first thread but no one did. Made me think some just didn't know a Whitworth but I find that hard to believe lol, so now I have what I think? to be a second one took some more pics and hope to here from you guy.
I would like to know the weight and will get it asap. I would love some input on your thoughs. And no I can't tell you where I dug them. lol

I have never dug one myself G2, but I know they have been recovered in the Franklin area. If they were dug in Franklin, they would be found in the Spring Hill-Columbia area. I have a round one from petersburg, VA that was fired and it certainly looks like yours. HH, Q.

You're right I didn't know about Whitworths. Thanks for posting.

Cool find g2d, I got to make a trip back to middle Tenn. one of these days and look you up.:hello:

I have one from Ft. Fischer NC. Some of the later 45-70's look a lot like the Whitworths. There are a few books in print that show the difference.

never dug one, hell i've never seen one. and i have been in the gun buss, for fourteen years either building them or selling them, cool finds my freind.
don't drink and drive you may spill your drink.

Thanks Q, they did come from that part of Middle Tennessee. I have some drops and just need to get the weight of them and will have that done this week. I do feel they are Whitworths from what I can tell. I have lots of bullets and these are not in any way like any I have. It's nice to have dug them here. HH

 I've dug a few, they do look similar to the .45-70s but these look like the real deal
