Whoo-Hoo! Finally we found something OLD!!!! DAY 4 UPDATE

So; Day 3 on Marthas Vineyard!

After a couple of days hitting parks and some side trails near Oak Bluffs and getting about $10 dollars in clad; 5 wheat pennies and ferry tokens; we drove to the other side of the Island in search of what we wanted; something OLD!!!!

We stopped in a small antique store and had a nice conversation with the owner who pointed us in the right direction. We get to our location and start walking. After about 45 minutes we start finding the old rock walls and cellar holes. After about an hour my son is grumpy and wants to leave. Bugs, and overgrown berry bushes. I convince him to slow down.........listen to his machine and don't pay attention to the numbers. I first get what I think is an old shoe buckle. Then a couple smaller buckles. Son asked me to come over and check a signal he had been working on. I check it with the E-Trac and get multiple targets. I help him dig and start pulled out a lot of broken glass. I tell him to work on it and use the pin pointer.......Boom!! He yells out "COIN". He finds himself what I think is a British Half Penny. It was kinda green and we couldn't read a date until after the hot peroxide bath. 1724!!! It cleaned up really well. Thinking it might have saved by being in all the glass and roots!! He also found the green bottle in the same hole but chipped the lip not expecting a bottle......

About an hour later as were waiting for the wife to come pick us up from the trail; I decided to hit another rock wall and get a great 11-46/12-47 in the middle of a path. Dig down about 6-7 inches and I grab the green disc; leaving all my gear behind running over to show my kid. Had no clue as to what it was until we cleaned it in peroxide. A cool looking 1837 Largie!!! Now were both happy and still have 3 more days to hit harder!! No buttons though:dontknow:

Thanks for looking and all the pointers from you all who live out this way!!!!:hello2:

Be back if we get anything else!

Day 4 update-----Hey all! Thanks for the replies. Today was a bit slow but productive. Went back and found another shoe buckle, an 1851 seated dime and the old dark coin we thought for sure was a super old one!!! Nope, just a destroyed Jefferson 5c! Came up like junk!

Be back if we find anything else......
