Well, I've been keeping my interest up by continuing to read all the finds since breaking my leg (in 3 places yet) at the beginning of December. I just couldn't stand it anymore so I used my big shovel as a cane and went out in my backyard. Isn't that where we all go when we don't have much time or don't want to go very far? LOL! Anyway, I lasted about 20 minutes before my back started cramping up and my legs started shaking. Man, I guess laying around for the last five months can really do a number on your muscles! I was determined not to quit until I found at least something. Well, I found a clad penny (1974), but doggone it, I kept getting hits so I thought "okay, just one more dig" and I pulled out a Hot Wheel bus in great condition. Wouldn't you know it? Right next to that I got another hit and pulled out a 1994 penny, then a 1991 penny! Now my back is really screaming so I had to turn off the MD so I wouldn't be tempted by another hit. I ended up using the shovel AND the MD as canes just to get back into the house............but, my oh my, I loved finding stuff again! I can't wait to build up my muscles enough to stay out longer! Thanks for reading this long post, but I couldn't keep it to myself!

WOW, a hot wheel bus, wish I could find one of those, I just keep finding old beer cans. The people who lived here before me had lousy taste in beer also......LOL

Vic, It's great to hear you feeling good enough for a little hunt. :)

Like everybody said...take it easy....don't injure yourself. :-\

Thanks for the soap opera update, guys.....now I've got the scoop. :D

No problem Mona L., I just keep getting the different stories all confused, LOL!

Vicky,

Glad you're on the mend :)
Maybe take someone with you to dig & carry?
know any little people?...kids are great!
Take it slow, and rest often :)
The only one who actually WANTS to help me dig is my hubby and he's out of town. My two boys think MDing is totally boring.

After having 5 knee surgeries I know how you feel on wanting to get back out. Just take baby steps and you will be back at it in no time. Good luck.
Oh gosh!! Five surgeries?? I think I'd be afraid to ever walk again!

Believe me, I've found my share of smashed beer cans, and you're right, it's hardly ever a good brand!

To everyone else - Thanks again for all the kind wishes.
