First time out

I finally pulled the trigger and bought a Nokta Legend Pro package this weekend. I played around the backyard with it and my new pinpointer and found an old rusty bolt, a steel bracket of some sort and really cool hit on a brass fitting on my backyard gas line. I then went over the fence into the wooded area and found a buried fence post and tons of aluminum junk. After a sitdown with a good youtube video I got the setting right, tossed on the 6" coil and hit the woods behind my house. There's a trail and a creek that runs through the neighborhood so I focused on the trail. besides all the trash, I was pleased to find a 2006 quarter and a dime. Nothing to write home about but as a new detectorist, it really made my day to find two coins in under an hour.

Wow, 35 cents, reminds me of my 800 mile road trip to Myrtle Beach where I tied your hunt to the cent with my Excalibur II 🤣👍 worth every cent!

Your off to a good start in this hobby.
Metal Detecting comes with a never ending learning curve - that's what keeps it interesting.

One thing you can do is make a list of everyone you know - family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc.
Keep a note pad with you at all times because you'll think of someone like at a stop light or similar.
If their house is more than 60 or 70 years old - ask if you can hunt their yard.
This will put you into the 1964 or earlier Silver coin era.
Dig neat plugs, remove all trash - even if it's not yours.
If you leave a site cleaner than when you got there - there's a good chance you'll be welcomed back in the future.
