I know what you mean, I usually come back a couple pounds heavier. Picking up every little piece is a good habit imo, makes good material study and might distract your competition. After I get back to the truck, I'll give it one more look for possible flake tools then throw the pile into the middle of the creek.

het chong keep it,maybe youll have what you will need to fix a broken one.that is what i think, after i learn to knapp of course, jamey

I have buckets full, hehe I love them. Here are some from the buckets. Keep them they make a cool sound when in the dryer !!

Could be worse Chong, could end up with a pocket FULL of Rhyolite.. :tard: :D
I pick up the flakes, so I don't keep picking them up over & over again.

Molly. ;D

I used to do the same thing. I would bring home pocketfulls of flint until I had boxes and boxes of flint. I finally went through all the boxes and kept anything that had been worked and took the rest back up and dumped it next to field I hunt. Now I don't bring home anything unless it's been worked or a broken point, other than the good ones of course.

well, thats always my intention, but i cant break the habit......
TN, ill take that bucket o flint u got there, the largest in the pic, some nice broken stuff in there;) did u fill them with water to show the colors?
37, i usually look them back over when driving back home, ya i know its worse than texting while driving :P
and i know that since i got that lithics book, they are much more interesting now :)

Tn, those display nice, you've got some real nice heartbreakers in those containers. I have several boxes of flakes, brokes, etc. too. I dump em out sometimes when it's too cold to hunt and try to piece together tips and bases, I never get lucky.

Chong2 Its fun to keep. I say keep it until you get tired of it. There is no water in that glass container.I mostly just keep the knapped stuff and always the broke ones. I have some very large broke blades gorgets celts etc.have never found the other half of anything though. I love that brown stuff as it is only found in one cove. I have found it traded though in other sites. Thanks for the post and letting me share a pic. Hope everyone has time to do a little hunting this weekend. Its dogwood winter here.

Put a pic up here on Mr. Chongs2 post if he does not care when you do it.

I have two flower beds with about 1 inch thick layer of flakes, each flower bed is 3x6, and I have only been hunting points since 11-08
I will post a photo tomorow.

I too was putting some flakes in my wife's flower beds until she cut her finger on a sharp piece of flint and that was the end of that. Now I just put large Hammerstones and big chunks of flint in around the flowers.

ya, lets see some pics
shaf, i think my wife understands where ur wife is coming from, cause when i get home, my stuff ends up on the counter for days, then i get to cleaning, and leave it out a few more days, then i bagem up :D im just so pooped when i get back from a hunt.

heyTN, next time im at hobby lobby i think im going to get some clear glass like u have, i love how it looks. i did that for awhile with purple glass when i hunted bottles have a few jars full, with water to bring out the color

I got the big glass from some science guy (entomologist) that had used it for bugs. The best place to find the big glass jars is if you have one is a TJ Max. The have some neat stuff. Yeah my flower beds are full of mortars and pestles. I will try to shoot a pic for your topic if that is ok. Its fun to see what everyone else does with all these old man rocks !! LOL

Man.... I do the same thing and like you..... always promise myself that I wont bring them home. BUT.... my wife bought me a bunch of beautiful large glass flower vases...... I filled them up with the white quartz flakes that I had in boxes and WOW!!! What a beautiful and interesting display they make. I am at work now but will post some photos of the ASAP. They really do make a great conversation piece and are beautiful. Oh yea... i also put the crystal quartz and white quartz flakes in our Aquarium and that adds a special look to the fish tank.

Have you all been been following me? :tongue3: :D LOL
My car, house, garden ect sounds just like everyone described! lol After a year I was showing a fellow hunter some of my finds opened my car door ( flint everywhere) & he said it looks like his car! lol
My wife is happy I have a hobby & tolerant of all the "rocks" but I guess until you get bitten you can't understand.
