We’ve all seen people show up here, who sometimes refuse to accept the fact that their rock is a rock. Happens in all forums and Facebook groups. I’ve actually been studying it, as I’m interested in the explosion of Dunning-Kruger effect(people who think they know more than they know) in the internet era.Problem I have seen is many Facebook artifact pages have too many natural rocks and so called potable rock art posted as actual real artifacts, it is misleading to new hunters, and when you point it out you are accused of not knowing real artifacts.
Look what happens on Facebook! Don’t like it when experienced artifact folks tell you “it’s a rock”!? Well, we have a group for you too. 25,000+ members! Just don’t tell anyone it’s just a rock! Dunning-Kruger Effect is totally out of control, which is dovetailing with the overall rejection of sources of authority in many areas of modern life.
