Why Tesoro Vaquero?

I love mine. I also have a cibola and the manual ground balance does make a difference! I thought I hunted out my yard with the cibola and then went over it with the vaquero and was finding a lot of stuff left behind. I went out this morning to an area where three detectors had already been and found three wheats.Of course I was listening to the lite signals and it paid off. One was pretty deep also. I have not found any gold with mine but it hits hard on my wedding ring. I have found 5silver coins with it and I have only had it for a couple of months and don't get to hunt to often due to work and family. I really love this machine and have been impressed with it.I have had many machines and this one has been my faverite all around detector so far.Great machine for the price for sure.

Pros.. Very lite
uses one 9 volt Cons . single tone,no display
Really good depth
easy to ground balance
Loves small brass and copper
gets little interference from power lines
And the best of all, life time warranty.

Vaquero is a fine coin and relic detector and will also find gold and silver rings. But unless the gold nugget is the on the larger side, it will not be the best for the job like the LOBO would. The Vaquero is a more well rounded detector. The Lobo is better at finding tiny gold and would drive you crazy trying to use it for coins.

Tesoro makes some of the best detectors.

sniper19612003,

Sandman was right on with what he said. Give us a little more info on how your going to hunt with the Vaquero and we can give you a better answer. Joe

I'm more into searching for old coins and places where bootleggers buried their money.
i have a couple of places to search and I'm looking for the right detector to use.
I use a mine lab musketeer right now and found it to be great at depth. But looking for something better. Any info would be a great help.

I don't know if the vaquero is deeper then the musky but it is much liter. I have read mixed reviews on the musky but they all say that they go pretty deep. The two machines may make work well together . The vaquero will probably do better at trashy sites.I have dug shot gun shells at around a foot deep but no coins deeper then eight inches or so. Good luck. :)

sniper19612003, here's a suggestion for you. If you're thinking about buying any brand or model of detector, send a personal PM to sandman.

When stuff is put out into the open like on the forum it can subject these informed persons with undue criticism and is also bad for the forum as a whole. So, what they tell you--keep it to yourself or at least don't mention them if you ever post that info.

Sandman (and others here) has already saved me some serious money by offering sound and knowledgeable advice.

I'd start with him and ask him about who he'd recommend if it's something he can't answer (the persons with the real knowledge on here know each other).

We have maybe 5 or 6 outstanding experienced hunters on here with extensive THing experience and basic electronic knowledge. They're worth more than their weight in gold (and for some that would be a lot of gold ;D.
