Wierd piece of copper whatisit

I found this in my unsorted piles of junk the other night. I'm not even sure which spot i dug it from so it must not have seemed that significant at the time, but it caught my eye the second time around. This seemed like one I should show some people smarter than I. It appears to be copper ore, weighs 10 grams, 3/8 wide 1 1/8 long. What do you think

Looks like it came out of a mold at one time.
 
I'm not sure. I can tell that something was tied around the end and there's a few grooves around it. The other end looks broken off

Could it be the left over from some type of wielding rod:dontknow:
 
Almost looks like the inside of a battery but I don't know if they ever used copper or not. I do know it isn't Native American as far as I know
