Strange. But I have to be a kill-joy and point out that similar headlines and articles can easily be found at the grocery store check-out line to-this-day. Eg.: National Enquirer, etc... And we all know how reliable/reputable those stories are, eh ?

So seeing as how human nature hasn't changed, I would allow that this can simply be an embellished silly tale. Sorry.
