Saturday was a complete washout, but Sunday was a gem. We got out early and after a fair amount of wailing and gnashing of teeth, my teenaged daughter and husband managed to load up the canoe on the old Subaru and off we went for a day of adventure.
We stopped for a picnic lunch on a spit of land sticking out into the lake and spotted a mommy moose out for a trot with her 2 babies! (for some reason, I cannot download this photo)
Then, as we were getting back into the water, this enormous snapping turtle, covered in a layer of mud came out to let us know that we should be on our way. We heeded his "suggestion" because he looked none too pleased to see us.
When we headed for home after a long day, we spotted a fisher cat on the prowl along the side of a dirt road. He was too fast for my camera, as were the mother black bear and her two cubs that were going through the upturned trash bin in our driveway when we finally got home.
