Will a spider coil from a Fisher 1225x work on an older 1265x machine?

If the attachments are the same, they might...

I've never tried that combo.

I did have a 12 inch solid coil from a '65-X that I bought in 1993 or so for the BARGAIN price NEW of $19.99 and put it on my '66-X. The only trouble with that coil was that the pinpoint was off--since I guess it and the machine weren't calibrated to each other.

I don't know about the 1225 coils.

Will parts of your 1950 chevy work on the new one? Just because the connections look the same doesn't mean the coils field will be right. Why take a chance on it being right, give Fisher a phone call. Don't email them, they don't answer.

I called fisher today and was told that the spider coil from my 1225x would work on the 1265x but the coil from the 1265x may not work on my 1225x. My brother sent a bounty hunter off to be repaired. Instead of just fixing his machine they gave him a new unit and also sent him a coil that was calibrated for it. Although the letter they sent him said the circuit board was replaced he could tell it was a new housing also. I was also told that the 1200 series coils are all supposed to be interchangable. I guess I will find out soon about both of them and post an update.

This is what I have learned. The spider coil does work on the 1265x and the pinpointing is right on. The downside of it is, I have to run the sensitivity much lower to make it stable. I decided not to run this configuration. The solid coil works just fine on the 1225x without any issues. I figured you guys might like to know about it.
