Last night I had a past tenant of mine knocked at my door to show off the 1899 "V" nickel that he found with his Bounty Hunter metal detector that he just bought. He told me about an old house that got leveled and told me I should go check it out with my detector. So, this morning after dropping off my girls at school I checked out the site. I found a 1959 Cent & a 1954-S Roosy dime ~ this is my Silver coin #50 for the year (that's NOT counting the 14 War nickels I've found this year). I'm gonna go back there tonight after I get off work ~ I'll update this posting if I find anything else!

POSTED an update ~ found more treasures! 1943-S War nickel and 1954 play Dime.

Congrats on #50!

50 sounds good to me. Or it could be fantastic or weak depending on where you live and what your expectations are. I don't measure my success by what others find but by the area's I hunt and the amount of effort I put into it. Sounds like you are happy too. :)

Good luck on your return trip.

OK ~ I took an extended lunch break to hit that site again ~ I found a 1943-S War nickel (#15 for the year) and a 1954-W Aluminum play dime "falsa pecunia".

SWEET!! Great count!

Good silver count for the year. Plus you got all those gold coins etc to keep you occupied there.! I seem to remember that you have family somewhere in Kansas? Maybe next time your down this way I can arrange for a hunt.

nice! i count war nickels as silver coins even though they have less silver content! it's still an old silver find!

way to go on your "64th"! :o

I've only been to Kansas once ~ Last September my wife & I took a trip to where my Grandfather was born & raised, Liebenthal Kansas (Rush County). It's about 15 miles south of Hays Kansas (Ellis County). We had a great time ~ we met some of my family that I had never met before.

I'm not sure when we'll take another trip there, but I'd love to hook up with some detectorists in that area and do some serious detecting! Thanks for the offer!

Yeah, it was kinda cool ~ I only found two dimes there ~ both dated 1954 ~ one silver and one aluminum ~ one real money and one play money!
