Wing pin

I found this sterling pin at a new site today. It is marked Meyer New York. It is 3"s long and 3/4" tall.

I remember as a kid back in the 50s getting one very similar when I flew with KLM airlines across the Atlantic. I think I still have it somewhere.

Thanks for the link, I will try to take in all the information but it is not clear to me if my wings are military or civilian. And, if they are military what time period do they date to. I pulled a lot of 40s coins from this site. Here is a link to my finds if you haven't already seen it.

I think the key to dating my wings will be in the backmark. Most Meyer backmarks I find all say N.S. Meyer New York. And that is not in the shield. I just found this reference that dates my wings to the late 40s.

That is where I got the reference chart I posted above your reply. It dates my wings to the late 40s unless you know something I don't?

I wish it was I who was wrong. It would have been nice to date them to the war period. I guess they could have been used during the Korean war.
