Lovely sunny fresh day. On my own again this weekend & only spent 3.5 hours on the field. I have got to a very unproductive area but need to finish this field for completeness & to hand over the completed survey map to the Archies.
First find of the day (not first dig) was a blank silver shilling.
Lead token & cloth seal
1 Scrappy
Tudor clothes fastener with missing hook.
Last find of the day was the best find. An early 1800s Military Button with Prince of Wales feathers & the motto;
"Honi soit qui mal y pense" (which means "Shame on him who thinks ill of it"). It comes from the order of the garter which stems back to the medieval times. I'm not sure which Regiment it is, as a number of them used this motto.
Glad I picked up at least 1 good find, tomorrow I will switch to the Bean Field. However the last piece of this field is pretty poor as well. Just need to get the job done.
