June, 1989.... I had a local farm lady call me to see if I could look for her sisters wedding ring. Sure, why not? I go to the farm and she takes me into the back yard and we continue to walk into a field about 80 yards away from the house. She takes me to the sewer lagoon and explains that her sister had gotten mad at her hubby on a recent visit and she tooks her rings off and flushed them down the toilet. Later she realized what she had done and decided she wanted her rings back.
I was not quite ready for THAT type of recovery but we gave it a shot. Where the 4 inch PVC drain line dropped into the lagoon I started swinging the coils on my Whites 5900 and after a few minutes, got a signal> she took a shovel she had brought along and dug a shovel full of "stuff" and dumped it on the ground. I swung the coil over the "pile" and nothing. She dug another scoop and dumped it on the ground, swung the coil over and BANG!! a nice solid signal. She started sifting thru it with a gloved hand and found the ring with the diamond setting. She offered me 20 bucks and said, "thats good enough, if she wouldn't have been stupid and flushed it, we wouldn't be here now" I laughed and told her thanks and headed for home.
