✅ SOLVED Women's Clutch/Pocketbook Bracket ?

I took a break from hitting a old home site on my property and went to an area I'd never detected (in the middle of the woods). I wasn't picking up anything, and then hit this hard out of the blue. I'm always amazed when I find something like this and there is absolutely nothing else in the vicinity.

I'm pretty sure this is the bracket that holds a woman's clutch or small pocketbook. You can see the holes where the fabric would have been stitched in.

Can anyone help me narrow down a time frame? Late Victorian maybe?

I would say a purse, early Victorian. I would also go back and check deeper. and around the hole!
