Hello all, I stopped by a little playground area at a park for just a few minutes of swinging.Expecting the usual clad.I got a signal near the swings and out popped this ring. Idont know if its real gold or plated or what.It has the names George,Sharon,Nancy,David and what I would guess is thier birthstones. On the inside all I can make out is AAJ AM or AV? No 14,10,or18K. It seems like a pretty well made ring to not be gold.I looked at it through a 10x loop.None of the setting posts are worn through to a base metal. Also found $1.61 in clad.

Thanx for lookin, jimmy

WOW!!! I love all the sentiment and everything that points to the fact tha maybe I wouldnt try in earnest to find the owner. As with a high school ring( where you have SOMETHING to go on)_.I am amazed/apalled by the insiuation that I would not expend every attempt to get this ring back to the mother that lost it!! Im sorry but the idea that I get from these posts (read them) is that I have no idea of returning this item! I HAVE TO SAY "IM PISSED ABOUT THIS INSINUATION".Thats all I have to say about that .....

That's a beautiful ring you found there. I love to hit the woodchips. You just never know what you will find there.

Jimmy-

I sorta had the same feeling when I read some of the responses. After some thought though, I think people tend to talk about how a find makes THEM feel or what THEY would do- even though it comes across as "advice" to you. Everyone on here is so kind, I doubt any of it was intended to be condescending.

I think we mostly think and talk about OURSELVES firstly. By that I mean what THEYor I would do with the ring. At least I can speak for myself. I'm all kinds of psychologically selfish. But again, who cares what I think anyway!

As for what I would do about the ring. I would find the owner, then tell them I'll give it to her for $100.

J/K!!!!!

Yep, I agree with the ID and the sentiment to attempt to find the mom... Great find, and a bigr reward if ya can get it back to her...
Big reward? The reward would be the kharma commin back babe. If she will call me.

Hey Jimmy,

Sweet find and sweet you!

I also don't think there was any insinuation that you would not try to find the owner. Just everyone thinking about the poor mom who lost it and what they would do to find her.

PURDY ring, Jimmy! :) I hope you find the owner.

Hello Jimmy,

Sorry the posts made you upset. Mine certainly wasn't in a negative vein. Since I've never found a ring, I was kind of thinking out loud the question, "What would I do?". I like that you and a lot of other MD'ers think alike in regards to the ethics of MDing, and this thread has really reinforced my resolve to find previous owners. If I'm ever lucky enough to find a ring. You are my mentor in this regard.

Thanks.

Very nice find. I've never seen one with the names before. I've seen a lot of them with the stones. Yep, look for a lady with a sad face. :'(

Nice ring, could even be a Grandmother's ring! Don't be surprised if the owner turns out to be an older woman.

Very nice ring, if its fake it sure fooled me,, Looks real, I would have to have it checked out at a pawn shop or ring shop, Congrats on your find
