Wooden works

I read that Eli Terry made Clocks entirely of wood, except for hands and escapement, handcut gears at first, around 1806 then becoming more popular and cheaper as machines were designed to cut the gears. demand for these became great, and he licensed Seth Thomas to build them
The only 'Slave Clocks' I'm familiar with are modern,
I recall seeing the hands on a schoolroom 'Slave' wall clock moving by themselves
with no little amazement...
