Worlds smallest shoe buckle

I got out today for a few hours with not much to show other than this incredibly small buckle. Early for sure, but exactly what it went to... :dontknow:
Kinda looks like a shrunken version of a shoe buckle.

Yes, small, but not a shoe buckle, closer to a knee buckle but if it matches the one on the buckle site, #40, says it might be a buckle for a garter, most likely late 1700s.

I'd say a strap buckle, and is old. I've dug quite a few, and a couple recently as a matter of fact.
 

Also... they often are a grey metal and come out very clean.

This came from the same spot that I dug my first shoe buckle a few weeks ago. I am already anxious for spring ;D
