Yeah, me too.
I got $500 worth of half-dollars and NOTHING!

This method is now bogus.
So many people doing it, and I think we've reached saturation.
You can tell when most of the coins are 1971 that this group has been gone through already.

It's like you go in to the break room at work, and there's an empty pizza box.
You KNOW everybody had a slice already, but you get nothing.
It wudda been better if I hadn't even seen the box, ha, ha!

I think of it this way. We have Casino Aztar about 5 min from my house I can either go there and gamble or I can go buy a box of half dollars. If I lose at the casino I lost all my money if I get a skunk box I can go to the bank and get all my money back. It is a gamble without the risk.

Thanks
Cat

My thoughts almost exactly. Since there are no close casinos I compare it to getting instant lottery tickets in my mind. We may often not win in this game we play, but at least we do not lose. (except that time I had a plastic token in a box, I lost 50 cents then ;) )

Happy Hunting,

I take it all back! :o

I wrote it being bogus when I had gone through the first 500 coins.
The second 500 proved a little better.
ONE '64 and two '67s - so, maybe not too bad.

But there is still the problem of getting 997 coins back in the bank.
How do you guys do it?
Fortunately there is an Indian casino near me - I could prolly dump them there into the coin counter.

It has come to light recently that the armored car companies take care of the rolling in certain areas. It only makes sense that the supply of silver would be depleted after a bit. You're not getting the halves "from the fed", you're getting the halves from the armored car company, who has kept the same halves you turned in last week......

Eventually you will search them all in your area. And you'll keep searching 'cause every now and then someone will dump their change jar thinking that only 64 and prior had silver in them. LOL!

I've run across the same problem as you guys..... I'm gonna start hitting the outlying banks and doing more "loose" transactions than ordering boxes. Maybe I'll get lucky, eh? Wish me luck! ;)

I totaly understand about getting all of your money back compared with other hobbies that you end up loosing money on. I just find it depressing to waste an hour looking through halves and not finding one 40%er. I guess this is what I get for finding 6 rolls of near mint 64' Kennedy's last month ;) Maybe I should get a box or 2 of dimes. Seems like I at least get 1 or 2 silver Rosies in every box.

Don't get depressed to much! It's those who get down on a skunk box that give up! Next box could get better. As I've seen alot on here remember roller coaster!!!
