ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) — Big Mouth Billy Bass apparently got the best of a would-be burglar in Minnesota.
Authorities in Rochester say the motion-activated singing fish apparently scared off an intruder who tried to break into the Hooked on Fishing bait and tackle shop.
The novelty bass had been hung near the door and would start singing "Take Me to the River" whenever someone entered the shop.
The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office says the fish was found on the floor after the intruder knocked it down while breaking the door to get in late Sunday or early Monday.
Sgt. Tom Claymon tells the Star Tribune (Intruder scared away by Big Mouth Billy Bass | Dateline Minnesota | StarTribune.com) the would-be burglar left without stealing anything, including cash that had been left in "a very visible spot."

That's funny Jeff.

Anyone ever see the talking "Big Bird" from the mid '90's that was motion/light activated?

A friend of mine (passed away now) had just come home to an empty house. His wife had left earlier that day to bring the grandkids back home to north Arkansas.

My friend and was walking into his dark bedroom from the brightly lit hallway. As he entered the room, his white shirt must have reflected just enough light to set that thing off.

As he stepped to the middle of the room to pull the chain on his bedroom light (yeah Jeff, we got them too), he heard a voice coming from the bed behind him say: "Peek-a-boo!"

After putting three rounds from his .38 into the spot where the sound came from, he turned on the light ... sadly, big bird didn't survive.

Hey jeff!! I keep one of those by my gun safe for just the same purpose!! He HE!! GOOD LUCK and GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!!
