would like to know about this sign

recently went out to explore a treasure sight checked the trees around a known buried treasure sight and came across this sign on a large old tree that was 4 ft from where it would have been buried, have not dug as would like to know about this picture, woundering if anyone recognizes this sign thanks

this is the other sign same but different lighting , now this is over 100 yrs olod from 1800s will that make a difference if not then what is it thanks

looks like a natural mark on a tree to me. Could have been a number of things that caused it.

Look around the site and see if there is anything else around. Never hurts to check.

Looks to me like the tree had a wound of some type and it healed irregularly (like when we get scars) and that's all there is to that. Sorry, but I think it's natural, too.

It sure looks like an owl to me. Somewhere on this forum I seem to remember reaading that an owl means treasure...just a thought.....steve
