I think the bigger problem is parents lack of time, interest or ability in their children's education and upbringing. A parent should have a lot more influence on their child than a teacher, priest, coach, etc, etc. and if you don't like the way your school is teaching than get your child on another school. Everyone has a choice. But lets not just sit around and complain yet do nothing about it. Nothing is more important than your children's education imo. If they started teaching wacko creationist stuff instead of science in my kids school they would be out of there before the end of the day - or I'd move out of the state if need be. In the end you can't be lazy and outsource your kids upbringing to the gov.
