Yesterday was one of those days you dream about. Hunting an old homestead that I didn't think was that old, but I was wrong. 1911d Barber dime, 1882 Indian Head, 1831 Matron head in pretty decent shape. Then the surprises, 1758 1 Reale and an 1809 Capped Bust dime. The dime is the Holy Grail of Capped Bust dimes with only 51,065 minted. I kept thinking a 1916d Merc would be an amazing find but this topped that. What a day. I am still flying high. I just wish the dime wasn't holed because it is in really great condition. It will be hard to go back to finding Wheats and common silver dimes. Thanks for looking and happy hunting. No kidding that is an unbelievable day!! You are spoiled now.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen an 1809 dime come out of the ground. That's a tough date that collectors have a hard time finding at coin shows, never mind getting a free one out of the dirt. Congrats!

I think we need you to head back down to Arizona now... what an incredible hunt. That dime is at the top of my bucket list. Congrats!!!

That is an incredible day!!! Big congrats on that dime those things are HARD to find let alone an 1809!! The real is a great find as well! WOW!! Dare I say banner on the dime...

Totally awesome finds. Are you gonna have the 1809 graded? What a score!

JohnCoho,

Great finds, the capped bust has very sharp details on the Liberty headband and the shield on the back in the high wear areas. Interesting that the United lettering on the back looks unusually worn - perhaps there was a problem with the die as the rest of the coin looks really sharp. Again, very nice hunt. Good luck with your hunts. Walt

Good job! PA has some of the nicest stuff in the ground. Gary

Wow now that's what I call an outstanding day! Congrats on all the great stuff! I am on a mission to find a capped bust coin. Doesn't have to be a rarity... any one will do! Sounds like you just found something many times more rare than an 1877 IHP. Amazing! The reale is awesome too. Thanks for sharing the finds and excitement!
