Hi All,

A friend of mine turned me on to this dive site last summer :). It turned out to be a wooden ship buried deep in the muck. After spending quite a few days/weeks digging, we finally hit a little paydirt and came up with the following items. Two coins one from 1775 and another from 1834, some pieces of a platter, silverware and a glass bottle stopper ;D.

We are both looking forward for the weather to break here so we can hit it again in the spring.

Wow those look like colonial iron ware two prong forks. I see pictures of them in my Rev War book. Excellent finds, persistence finally paid off for you. Congrats on the finds.

Thanks ENHH,

Will you do me a favor and provide the author of the Rev war book that you found the Pics in, I would really like to see if I can find the book at the library and zerox the picture of these as a reference when I catalog the silverware. Would have never believe that these could be as old as colonial iron articles :o.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated ;D,

Hi Scraper,

Actually I do have more of the platter :D, just been trying to figure out the best method of putting it back together without ruining it. Yes, I'm trying to preserve everything that I can, after reading all the pros and cons of drying out wooden items. I did my home work and now have the silverware shown here. I'm planing to do the same for everything that I find on the site. Once I have the plater together, still missing a lot of the edge, I figure I can Xerox what I have and then match it to the other side that is missing so I can give everyone a snap shot picture of what it should look like. I'm sure there are quite a few sources here at the TN site that know plenty about servingware, plates and platters as I would like to know the date and country its from.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated,

DandyDon

that liberty looks like it has the American flag overlayed onto it. nice finds.

deadringer,

Not sure I follow the comment about the flag overlay, isn't this how a Liberty penny is supposed to look? If not please educate me a little more about the coin as I had thought that I had found the match in on of on-line coin shops.
