Wrong One

Happens quite a bit in New York, however they quickly realized she had it all on camera and sped off!

I Remember watching that Chase

It’s known as the ‘crash for cash’ scam over here and we get at least 1,000 incidents a year. Not just collisions between cars, but also from scammers using mopeds, light motorcycles and bicycles. In the latter cases, the riders throw themselves and/or their bikes over the hoods of stationary cars. It’s also known for people on foot to do the same when a car stops at a pedestrian crossing.

The most common tactics are disabling brake lights so you don’t know the car in front is unexpectedly braking hard, deliberately moving into the wrong lane at busy roundabouts to force a collision, and flashing their headlights to encourage drivers to pull out of side roads without the right of way and then driving into the side of them.

Dashcams are the way to go but (I don’t know if this is the case in the USA), there are a couple of potential pitfalls over here. Insurance companies regard a hard-wired dashcam as a ‘modification’ to your vehicle and your own insurance may become invalid if you don’t tell them. Also, if you do tell them and receive any discounts as a result, your insurance would be invalid if it wasn’t switched on at the time and you would have to repay those discounts.

Score one for the good guys. They will reap what they sow.
