WW-2 Artifact solved: horn

Hmmmm.....any thought on what this was once part of? About 6 inches in diameter, steel on top, cast aluminum under. copper runs runs from under the central cap to the housing on the top. Age is WW-II or newer, from Army base that was bulldozed in 1946.

Here's a side view image, showing wire from hinge going inside. Appears maybe a spring under the cap too.

That looks like a 12volt electric horn.

6 inches diameter is a large horn but I still think its a horn.

wow exact match! thanks guys! Can't believe I didn't think car horn...but I'd diggin 1942 shell casings all afternoon on the old military base...my mind jumped to ordinance .
