Birdman,

Thanks for the report. Kinda makes you think twice about what you might uncover. Grenades and bombs are a little different than Indian heads and CW belt buckles. You know some explosive devices become more sensitive over time (a chemical change), 60 year old land mines are still killing or maiming people. Your cannon ball had potential to be a deadly explosive even after 100 yrs (or even 200 years).

Interesting topic Birdman.

I managed to read it, very interesting find, makes you wonder what other unexploded ordianances are under us ::)

I wonder if the Heavy equipment operators in those types of area's have touble getting Insurance? Be careful Bman.

A 500 pound bomb should be dealt with the same way you would deal with a 500 pound Canary. Just let it nest where ever it wants.
Glad you didn't detect it. You might have been back in the states before you knew it.
Be careful over there, and next time I ask you what you found detecting. Please don't tell me you bombed out. ;D HH

Enjoyed the post and friendly ribbing from your fans. :) Interesting article and I had good laughs too. Thanks!

I lived in Muenster, Germany for a few years, probably about every six months they would find some bomb or another during construction just in that city...it wasn't even all that heavily bombed.

"Verrry interestin"

HH :)
