Hunting old house site where I have dug some CW relics. Out popped this. First for me. Backmark says New York and what looks like NS Meyer.. I believe this is WW2? Any idea on precise ID.

As Terpfan posted the great seal goes back to circa WW I! Put a little Aluminum Jelly (you can buy it on Amazon) on that button and it'll clean up beautifully! :thumbsup:

Will aluminum jelly bring out the gilding?
 

Yes and it will make it bright and shiny again.

Here's a button I used it on that's from the same time-frame as yours. When dug I could see very little gilt.
