WW2 Japanese Army officer/Parade sword

Yesterday while visiting my dad he told me he wanted to give me something. A World War 2 era sword That was surrendered to the Allied forces after Japan was defeated. I haven't seen the sword since the early 80's. I remember playing with it often as a child, usually after sneaking it out of my dads closet. When money got real tight in the late 80's I thought he sold it and I would never see it again. Well.......SURPRISE!!!!! Now I will have 2 family items to pass down to my kids because last Christmas dad gave me the knife I had lost as a child and returned to him 35 or so years later in 2005 or 2006.
