Found this in a civil war camp and found out it was not cw and i am still trying too determine what it is. There was a very old early 20th century house site about 200 yards from this camp that was there from 1915 too 1930ish and i am expecting it came from there... Anyone? thanks and Happy hunting...

Three important ID and time-dating characteristics for your US Army Infantry insignia:
1- The letter-&-number are part of the insignia's body, instead of being entirely separate from it as they were until 1895.
2- The rifles are flintlock muskets, not the Breechloader rifles used on the Infantry insignia from 1906 to 1923.
3- The attachment-form on your Infantry insignia is a pin-clasp (instead of wires, or a screw-post, or clutch-pins). The pin-clasp was used on Officers' Infantry insignia from 1895 to 1923, and on enlisted-men's from 1896 to 1923. But yours has flintlock muskets, so it can't be the 1906-1923 version.

By combining those characteristics, your insignia dates from 1896 to 1905.

Thanks so much CBG.. I have been trying too pull old land records and maybe get a name of this person who use to own this old house site in hopes I can pull up military records but so far been hitting roadblocks! Thanks really a bunch!
