Going through estate coins found this 1922 Peace Dollar. Has what looks like an x on front. Any help? It is difficult to see but the mark is raised and consistent with the other minting markings.
Maybe a Clash mark?
Marks on the die caused during minting by dies striking each other without a planchet between them. Each die impresses reversed portions of its design on the other.
Well, if it was carved into the coin I wouldn't have wasted the groups time. I have examined it closely and it is an elevated mark consistent with the minting process. But thanks for looking.
