Re: x-terra 70 or White's M6?

Having used both before, I liked the X-Terra 70 better. It was a pleasure to use on the beach in wet or dry sand. Don't get me wrong, M6 is a fair detector, I just think the 70 is better.

The M6 is a very capable detector but mostly considered a coin hunter. The X70 is a better all around detector and with two coils for the price of one it is even a better all around detector for the money. At 699.95 you will have a hard time beating it.

I have an XTerra 70 with the stock and 18.75DD Eliptical Coil; a while back I considered trading it for an M6, but after comparing features, I just couldn't do it. Overall, I agree with Tony that the XTerra is probably the best choice.

I know this is the Minelab site but since the M6 is involved i'd like to add a few opinions for what it's worth.

I had the X-Terra 50 for a while and traded towards the M6 once i realized the smaller coils weren't coming soon and couldn't be happier.

the X-Terra 70 has more options than the M6 and most likely the better overall but if you hunt trashy sites and need small coils the M6 has many options unavailable to the X Terra users for now.

I have a Sov GT and a Musky and enjoy both but so far the M6 using small coils along with the tone ID and very quick target separation has produced some nice finds at very trashy older sites where target masking not depth is the main culprit. Just a few thoughts. HH Bill

Well, I ended up with the White's DFX, after doing the side by side comparison, watching dvd's, corresponding with several people and going to different detector stores looking at the different brands. It was more than I had originally wanted to spend, but I figure that it'll be worth it in the long run.
