I ordered and received today the SE Pro Coil and immediately installed it and went out for a quick two hour hunt to see how I like it and of course to compare it with the old XS 10.5 inch stock coil.
First impression, LIGHTER!
It seemed to perform great, but since I went to a site that I have pounded to death over the years, and the ground was dry as punk, the signals in this heavy Iron laden homestead still were very good on separation.
The pinpoint was comparable to the ML 8 inch I thought, have not quite figured out where the center point is on the coil, but I will after the next hunt
Although I got no coin readings, I did get a piece of buckshot that sound off good, a part of kerosene lantern, a Silver Plated spoon that probably dates to around late 1800's, a part of a Harmonica reed, an odd ball piece of iron shaped like the end of a big solder iron. The best find was an old door or chest key.
Hopefully this coil will extend the life of my original XS by a few years and if the detector does go, I at least have the latest coil for the Explorer which would become a spare if I purchased a new SE Pro.
The only downside to the coil that I see is: The cable is too short for the XS original lower grooved shaft. The uncoiled portion coming out of the coil does not match the length of the groove in the original shaft! Why ML made the cable shorter is beyond me, but for some that might be a problem without a modification or getting the newer composite lower rod (I had one).
