Yesterday's farm finds

Found these yesterday while searching an old farm house. So much more trash I have to dig up but I came out with a few good finds. The spoon is stainless. The ring is silver. Not sure about the pendant. Any info on the patent tag would be very much appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Joshr29, Great finds, I would definitely have your pendant checked for gold content. Your "tag" does not appear to be a patent plate. Rather, it is a name, followed by an early telephone number, (two letters then five numbers,) address, and city & state. Probably a luggage or property tag. Wiser forum members can nail down the dates of usage on the phone number and give you a possible age. Happy hunting, Sub

Thanks a lot Sub. I would have never thought of that. I tried doing some research and apparently Smithfield doesn't exist anymore so it's a pretty neat piece to have.

The "P." in front of the number stands for "Phone number." Cool stuff!

Smithfield is in Tarrant County........ a subdivision now 1.6 mi SE of Wautauga, 8.4 mi NNE of Fort Worth.

Thanks for the location on that. Where I found it is only about 30 miles from there.

In the 40's my uncle would crank the phone, and tell the operator, "Howdy Maybel, hook me up to Archie." But at our house we were more advanced, to call us, you would pick up your phone and the operator would ask, with a smile in her voice, "Number please," and to call us you would say, "459-J." Then late 40's or early 50's we got dial phones, and our number was a Librety 3 prefix, so to dial us was Li 3 2882. Then along came dial tone, and push button, and now cell phones, and I hate my damn phone, all I want to do on the phone is to be able to say hello and good bye, I don't know what the rest of the crap on there is, and I don't take pictures or video using the telephone. I'd just as soon turn the crank and say, "Howdy Maybel."

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you liked the "good ole days" a bit more than now.

I agree, I think the Tag is off an old Dog collar, cool find,...............HH
