I'm no expert on buttons but is no later than 1812 (I would say)

Nice find on the button

Nice finds...I think someone else found the exact same button with the '55' on it not too long ago. I remember seeing it within the last two or three weeks here on T-Net.

I'd say into the 1800s, is there a backmark?

You throw around the term expert on a very loose basis. :icon_jokercolor:

I just checked my books and no match but based on what I see I still think it's probably 1800s. Usually when a button is a little thicker like that it is later. (post 1700)

PS.. You know you're tired when you go to put your coffee back on the bookshelf instead of the book. :D :D :D

Ok, just seen the back/backmark. I. Nutting Covent Garden, 1812 period.

Your other button is upside down :D 1700s British Royal Artillery.

I have Military Buttons of the American Revolution by Don Troiani. Also, Parkyn Shoulder belt plates and buttons, Alberts for American, and Dating Buttons by Tice. Plus I have a few other things printed out by friends and mailed to me.

You guys over the big pond are killing me :icon_scratch:
Congrats

I wasn't that far off with my guess then :D

Nice buttons! Here's another site to help ID buttons or whatever, the UK detector finds database. HH, Mike
