Yesterday's meager findings - artillery button and odd cufflink
Yesterday was a beautiful day in Southwestern Pennsylvania and perfect weather for metal detecting. I returned to the cow pasture that I have been pounding lately, planning to slow down and dig a lot of iffy signals. I dug a lot of holes and enough Gaw Gag to make Lady Ga Ga gag. I didn't make any real notable finds but I did get another artillery button, my 5th out of this pasture. This one is a two piece eagle A cuff. The others are (3) one piece eagle on a cannon and (1) one piece convex eagle A. I have also found an 1830's-1840's Shako hat plume holder and a GAR veteran's badge in this pasture, so whoever lived here was probably in a pre-war militia unit and later served in the Civil War. Yesterday I also dug an odd cuff link that looks like a a face that is winking with a crooked smile. The 1909 and 1910 Lincoln cents are the newest coins from this site. This is the second time I have found those two dates on the same day - and I have hunted this place at least 20 times. First pic is some of the junk and house lead (as opposed to camp lead). The bent button would have been a nice flower button.
