Yo Joe! Looking to identify a 60s GI Joe tag

Okay, deep internet searches are turning up nothing on this one. 1960s style GI Joe logo. Looks like a tag. Top of star is broken off so possibly held a chain loop. I find many dogtags with this logo, but nothing in this star shape. I've looked through each of the original large figure kits, accessory packs, etc. and although I see the regular dogtag in several of them (with this beachhead logo) I am not ever able to see any product or offering that has this heavy star tag.

Original brighter plating flaking off here and there. There are no marks, and no other attachments. Back is flat and plain. Width is 1.75" (4.5cm) tip to tip. My son's first cool find so any help is greatly appreciated. thanks, Mitchell

Not real sure, but I think those came with some of the early GI Joes.
