I used a satellite to find a new swimming area to hunt. It seems that every boat launch in the area has had lots of swimming around them. When I got to the boat launch the water was up a foot more than I thought it would be but I did drive too far to not give it a try. I walked down to the edge of the water and turned the detector on and had moved a few feet and got a solid pull tab signal. I immediately thought it's going to be a long day digging 200 pull tabs. I scratched the silt and gravel back and out rolled a nice 14K wedding band. Dang, that's 6 gold rings in about that many trips. That's the best I have ever done in any year. Well, that isn't the part I thought you might not believe..... I got back to the boat ramp ready to go home and saw a beer bottle in a tire track right on the boat ramp. I had my cap pulled down low and I had been looking at the ground the whole time until I picked up the beer bottle to throw it up into the weeds. When I raised up to throw the bottle I saw a full grown deer (a doe) was standing less than 10 feet in front of me. Well, I couldn't believe it either. What's stranger is that it walked right up to me and I held my hand out and it smelled of it and let me pet it's nose. Got to be somebody's pet.... I found a Styrofoam cup and poured some Mountain Dew in it and it smelled of it but seemed not to want any of it, lol... I took a bunch of pics with my cell phone but they aren't the best. Everyone have a good one!

Beware, the animals are moving in. :o

Nice find on the 6th ring of the year. That deer is something else, hard to believe it would come right up to you like that. Pretty cool.

Nice ring DL. Maybe Bambi is engaged.

What did it say inside the ring?

Nice job on the 14k ring! I can't wait to get back out again! To much going on in terms of college though :( I hope you find many more rings this year! :)

Hey,

This is the 2nd metal detecting deer story I have seen in the last week. One was on youtube same kind of deer walked right up to a treasure hunter. He was not as nice as you, he shooed it away. Now to me this is very cool. The deer is my totem animal or power animal. This tells me nature itself was smiling on you and enjoying your company. This is a very good thing you should be very happy.

Keep @ it and HH!!

Maybe it was rabid and you just got lucky!

JK.

Dan, you have turned from Lost Ring Finder to "Deer Whisperer"-What Next? Nice Find. HH.

Nice ring! And I enjoyed the deer pictures. There is public hunting around most of the lake nearest my home and only a few areas are no hunting areas. One is a state park and another is the area where you are allowed to ride ATV's. When deer season starts the deer know it and they all gang up in these two areas. During that time you can walk right up to them or vice versa. As soon as it's over they scatter and you can't approach them. There are a couple that the gate keepers feed all the time and they are relatively tame year round. Monty

That is amazing the doe coming right up to you. Nice ring also

Oh dear! I mean deer? :o

Man, the ring is cool!

Same thing happened to me when I found my Indians... 3 deer in the middle of winter were about 10 feet away. Fat kids they were.

Nice find.

Happy Hunting

Wow, DL, another ring! You're really raking them in. Nice deer pics too.

HH

It could have been someones pet too.

Nice job on the rings so far...you'll be hitting a record this year at that rate. And beautiful doe!
