about 8" down under a hunk of bedrock 188_8871.webp doing the "Lanny" thing.......63bkpkr

Larry Sallee claimed to have found a 3oz nugget, which I believe he said, was 17" deep. I'm assuming it was with the gold master 11.

I was wrong about Larry Sallee claiming to have found a 3 oz nugget at 17" it was a 1.5 oz. I've never found a 1.5 oz nugget before but I'm gonna have to try bearing a 1.5 oz lead weight in the yard at 17" just to see if the nokta will pick it up. The soil here is much milder than in Arizona.

About 7" with a Goldbug II. The nugget was 2.5 grams. :skullflag:

In an air test, or in a mild non mineralized ground type, the depth distance may be close to a PI detector, but once you get into mineralized ground where most gold is found, a vlf is not a real deep seeker. VLFs definitely have their place though, but for outright depth a PI is the way to go.
