Pete,
We are all looking forward to what you are teasing about.

I have had one other thought for you to consider.

At Old Salem (in Winston-Salem) there is a shop with two craftsmen who make pewter spoons from molds very similar to yours. They make them for sale in the gift shop. They are very good craftsmen. Their molds have been made by taking castings from old spoons and then reproducing the mold from that. They are, as I said very competent craftsmen.

There is likely a way for them to cast half a pewter spoon from your mold so you could see what it looked like. They would have to make a dummy other half. I think they could do it.

Or, of course, perhaps the Master you have contacted could do it for you. You would be expected to post a photo of the result on here.

Just something to ponder. Do a search for Old Salem and look around the web site, it is a well known historic site.
George buddy,That could get exspensive as I would feel like I need to send them out to you guy's like cigars. :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9:

Ps just to be clear. It is on the age of the mold is what he sent. *16th century* And possible maker! *English*

As we all hoped, nice to have it confirmed as English as well, love to know about the maker that would be amazing. A person in time but so long ago :o

Pete. You made it. "CONGRATS ON MAKING BANNER". Awesome dude. :icon_thumright: :icon_thumleft:

I just knew this had to make banner sooner or later. Later is better than not at all. :icon_sunny:

This is the best find I've seen yet. You are the man. :notworthy:

Re: A Rare 16th Century Spoon Mold Find!

Congratulations again man! It's great to see this archived this way, and I'd bet money this kind of inspirational find will cause a few people to take a second look at relic hunting and preservation. It will really be something if a few existing very early spoons found in the U.S. can be matched to this mold too. Great find! :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumright:

Re: A Rare 16th Century Spoon Mold Find!

Moderators,
I've probably not acted very well again in the long run on this one! :D Not to justify my ways but boy this was another on the edge of the seat deal with this one. I've tried to understand how these things work even though it don't matter really as it is your call. But thats just my nature how I am. :laughing9: And as days go buy and things are said you can ask my wife as I'm not very patient for a person. (just how I've always been). But it all worked out in the long run. Sure you all could have done with out somethings that were said and feel bad about saying them once again. So I'll take my FOOT OUT OF MY MOUTH once again :laughing9:
Thanks behind the forum Guy's!
