I cannot respond to that comment in a positive way so I will not respond to it.
Surrounding myself with positive people, and much research is the only right thing to do.

I'm sure aquanut was not trying to insult you. Either he was making a joke based on your current location, or he hasn't seen your other thread about this. Life on internet forums is much easier if you don't assume people are trying to attack you. Humor is often difficult to convey through typed words.

nevermind, I didn't see there were more posts before I hit "reply"

If it exists, El Grande is said to be carrying bronze cannons, making a mag search, our primary tool, nearly useless. I think only good research will reveal its location.

The info I remember was: "El Grande wrecked in the channel 12 hour sail northward from Key Largo".

While it would be nice if it had ALL iron cannons keep pulling that mag brothers!!!

There's plenty of other ferrous items that can lead you to the "wreck".

Remember, if it was easy, everyone would go find a treasure galleon!!

You beat me too it Au, I was going to ask "What did those bronze cannons shoot?". How many cannonballs does it take to register on a properly done mag survey? She also had several iron anchors on board, probably 8 for her and several smaller ones for the long boats. Sure cannon piles make great markers, but I can't tell you how many times we got a big hit that turned out to be a pile of cannon that was nowhere near the ballast pile. It's the little concentrations of smaller hits that usually end up being the final resting place of the ship's hull and cargo. Drag that mag, you might be surprised.

Jason, I'm aware of your point and you have a good one. However, I'm a small fish in a big ocean and only research can narrow my actual search area to a reasonable fuel consumption. Unfortunately, my budget for searching is considerably small...It's easier to 'Hit" a cannon!

I came to see if one or two,
could help me on my way,
Studies and research have led me here,
It is here I will not stay,

I've got some emails that say I am not true,
I'm a fake, a fraud, and this makes me blue,
so I leave you now for I have found,
A lead or two,
where she's aground.
Proof you want,
proof I'll get,
not sitting on the internet.

I leave to go,
look for more,
who believe that there is more in store.
Gold and riches is what I continue to seek,
No man or woman can keep my feet,
from searching on until I find,
the one financier who is not blind.

If you got it then use it to get you more,
if you say you do but don't,
then don't knock on my door.
I am here to locate gold and don't have much time,
For you to say you do but don't,
Then don't waste my time.

Continue on your internet,
pecking at the board,
for I will be hunting treasure that's lost,
reaping the reward.

May God be with you in your quest,
I wish you nothing but the best.
For this is who I am you see,
Not a liar, no, not me.

GOOD LUCK!

Not to get off track here but I am curious with wrecks such as this here on the east coast of florida being under many feet of sand how are wrecks along floridas gulf coast? Are they buried just like the Atlantic and if this one is off of the cape how deep is the water in that area?

Old wrecks on the west coast tend to be buried under deep sand. Thats because of the loop current that travels south to north along the coast. A good example is the Emanuel Point wreck which was part of Tristan de Luna's fleet of 1559. Archaeology students from the University of West Fl found it. One diver swam over a round rock and discovered it was the top of a ballast pile.

Lockdownking go to the first page of this thread. Fisheye and Ivan posted a lot of info on this wreck. It sank south of the cape.
