Hi everyone,
An other Spanish silver find! And I finally managed to clean this baby. It was not easy as it had a really thick hard crust. Found it on my river spot where I dug my other 5 colonial Spanish silvers and about 30 or so 1730's-1810's halfpenny's. Was super excited with this one as it's solid and heavy coin. At first though it was a 4 Reales as it's a bit larger and heavier than the other ones but after measuring it at home and cleaning up a bit it's clearly an other 2 Reales (should have listened to Iron Patch when he told me so an hour before ). That particular coin really made me work cleaning it. I'll include the pic of before the cleaning so you have an idea. If you have ever found a water dug old silver you probably know what i'm talking about. If not it's like removing some old paint from your wall hopping not to damage the second layer underneath it in the process. Very happy with this find and with the cleaning result!
I will make a group pic of all my old silver and coppers from that spot (two weeks total) in a couple of days.
Thanks everyone for the comments. I left the coin a bit dark at some spots as I'm satisfied with the resultt. Don't want to clean it any further and risk to damage it.
A great little hunt!
The coin as found.
After 4 hours cleaning
And an other 4-5 hours
