Good morning,

I found a very well worn 1850 silver coin. I have attached 2 pictures for your review. Oddly, under a magnifier, the obverse seems to be a US dime however the reverse is marked with a "W" which does not match any US coin references I have found. Can I ask any coin experts for their opinion on the proper identification.

Thank you in advance to all.

It is a seated liberty dime turned into a love token.

What you have found is indeed a 1850 Liberty Seated dime, the reverse of the dime has been altered to create a "Love Token", it was a common practice to grind/smooth off one side or both of a silver coin to create a love token for the love in one's life!

Do a internet search for love token and you will see many.
