I got out of the house for about two hours to get a detecting fix today. There was a lite snow falling and the temp was about 36. Not to cold as long as your dressed for it. I stayed close to home because of time restrants. I went to a grassy field about two miles away.Ground is pretty muddy but it could be a lot worst,Could be froze. I found a few things but nothing to brag about. After I was working my way back to the car I got an iffy signal. The meter was saying nickel and fairly weak but it was repeating. At about 5 inches down I spotted what looked like a dime on edge .I got it out of the hole and saw a that it said 1851? silver? 3 kreuzer. On the other side it says "Baden" . I know there is a village close to the Black Forest called Baden Baden .IT is about three hours from here.I don't know if that is the same place though. It is always great to get out and dig especially this time of year. I will get some pics up later after I get the mud cleaned off of everything.Merry Christmas and happy hunting! Took a while for the pics, thanks for looking. :)

Re: 1851 silver

Sounds nice but can't wait for the pics! I bet it is from that small town. You should take it to a pawn shop there somewhere. Not to sell, but get information. Let us know what you find out.

Keep @ it and HH!!

I forgot to add when I was knocking the mud off my shovel the darn thing broke in half.I guess the metal was brittal from the cold. ???I told the wife to tell santa that I needed another one and she said santa was done shopping but not to go out and buy one .LOL I guess I will have to wait and see. ;)HH

Info from shop :)

Catalog "world coins"

HH Sand

P.S. Yesterday searched, too, 11 coins but all are from 1890s-1925.

What's that Dodge guy say? Oh yeah! SWEEEEET !!!
That low of a mintage, I think would make it a very rare find. No matter the value listed.
For a second I thought the coin broke. Excellent find!!! HH

Hay Sand, good information! Do you know of a web site where I can look up German coin prices? I surched and I can't find any free bees. Thanks and merry Christmas! :)

Very nice find, WTG!!!
You definitely have to watch those digging tools in the cold, I broke two digging knives last year, it ate up all of my clad profit for the year. :( I haven't been out in over a month, just been too far below freezing here this year... Glad you can still get out...
Good luck & Happy hunting~ , and a Have a Very Merry Christmas!!!

I believe Baden is also the state/region that contains the black forest. I wish I had a detector and time to use it when I was in Germany. I was at Baumholder 1988-1990 and at Landstuhl 1990-1992. Now retired from the Army. I miss lots of things about Germany.
And thanks for serving for us.
Steve
