1869 Shield Nickel & 1749 King George II Farthing, Mass Militia button, IH

Hello,

Just picked up detecting again. Ace 250 is nice but useless without a PROBE.

Went to my favorite spot in the middle of an old town (1680's). Last week got the 1749 Farthing, 1901 IH, Civil War Era Mass Volunteer Militia button, and tonight got my first 1869 Shield Nickel and a little silver thing. Can anyone identify the silver?

Thanks

Re: 1869 Shield Nickel & 1749 King George II Half Penny from last 2 hunts

Wow that 1749 has a lot of detail left..I would only clean it with a strong mag glass with some toothpicks an wet qtips if I found it..

Thanks. I just assumed it was a half penny. I now see that a Farthing is a 1/4 penny.

Not really a bad thing, a lot more halfpennies are found than Farthings.

That 1749 is nice. Usually when I dig a coin like that they are wron almost flat. The Mass button looks like it was burnt. I wouldn't try to clean it anymore except maybe lightly brush it with a dry toothbrush. If you try any liquid you might start loosing detail.

The button would only get worse, the more it's cleaned, the more black it will become.

Nice digs. The farthing is in very nice shape!

No idea on the silver item. Maybe the top of a perfume vial?

Nothing was frozen at all except me.

The silver thing is VERY HEAVY and symmetrical all around.
