2 Hour Hunt Sunday in my Hometown

My Nephew djm of PA & I decided to hunt the Field in My hometown Sunday
again, since the last 2 times I found Colonial Coppers here .
and it's a spot we only hit once a year.
My other Nephew who just started detecting & BKINPA also joined us.

First a Little History.

The Field


sits along the Tulpehocken Trail which was used in the 1700's
by Iroquois embassies traveling to & from Onondaga (what is now Syracuse) and other parts of the Six Nations country.



in around 1800 there was a watering hole built here for the travelers.
known then as the Keffers Tavern stand.

in 1812 Draft resiters hid out behind it till the war of 1812 ended.


1875



By the 20th Century
the Field was used as a ball Field

May 4th. 1939


May 31, 1939






With a hunch we headed out, DJM & I Both thinking with the Colonial Coppers ,
being found here , There has to be Colonial silver

yea my luck has dwindled to about half a dozen wheats & maybe a couple dollars in clad change ,
so far this year
and it's over half way over already

Jeff. I really dig the research portion of your post. That was a home run with documentation. Even though you didn't find it, you put your nephew right over it. Just like fishing: you put yourselves right over the grounds!

I didn't really have anything Constructive to add to your comment.

As far as I'm aware there were no Cannon used in my area during the French & Indian War. Just small attacks.

They were Ordered to Build a Fort just below my place along the Tulpehocken ,
to Protect Pine Grove from the regular Raiding Parties by the Indians, (early 1750's)



But there is No evidence they ever followed those orders, or why.
Fear or What

There is a story the Soldiers were in pursuit of an Indian Raiding party up the Blue Mountain,
one day. But once they reached the top, and saw how thick the woods were
this side, They all started fireing in the air then turned tail & ran "screaming & Crying" for their lives back down to Fort Henry (I believe the majority of the soldiers back then were Children and Farmers, with very short training)

anyway it feels like thick rusted Tin to me, like what is behind headlights.
only it is about half the size.
and is no where as think as the Cannonball Shrapnel I do have & didn't want to put down your suggestion.



I'm thinking more along the line of Car/buggy light of Miners lamp piece.
but even that doesn't quite fit being no center hole in it.

he doesn't have all my History books & Research material yet.
I've been slowly passing them on to him a few at time as to not overwhelm him with
my junk plus there are a few local histories I still use as reference pretty regularly

But of course for every Colonial coin pulled here (3 so far I know of)
there is probably many more.

But need someone with a detector that does go very deep &
isn't effected By Coal/Iron Hot rocks.

add some luck to swing over the coins.

Would be the Ultimate Natural Test Garden

My explorer was getting allot of interference from aliens dogging me though

Well that leaves my CZ7 out,,, it is a MAGNET,,, hahahaha

Still though,, I will see if I can find those distilleries for real,,, I have a general location on the 1858 map I have, so to find any foundations or manmade looking things on the ground hopefully won't be too difficult.

It would be from ball penetration... (<--- heh)...

Ya see when a ball passes THROUGH METAL... this is what a piece of metal will look like many times that was CARRIED with the ball...
