Yes... it's a little (1 1/2 inches) lead shingling hatchet (momento?) and it has raised letters that say "washington hatchet"

River Rat... I've been digging there for over a year... 8) I have a few tables covered in stuff and yes, there is some more!

** my best Nepolian Dynamite voice ** "yea, I've dug maybe infinity relic pieces." LMAO ;D

...but only one era coin! A Real nice 1877 cc seated liberty dime. I bet you found more than one coin last year! I think I'll get pics of all my stuff and put it in the "collections" section here.

We have a few old trading forts near where I live (Montana) I was wondering if they would produce anything good. I wondering what metal the buttons are made out of?

Brass. All (most) the U.S.Eagle buttons are brass and other (depending on the backing, manufacturer, date made... ect... )

Damn near every round is 45-70... sometimes a 50-70 or other miscellaneous round to include several sizes of musketballs.
