My wife and I went back to Raleigh last weekend. Her for business and me for monkey business. I was able to detect at one of my old spots again. I have pounded this spot for many years, but was still happy to be there. It was in the 40’s but sunny, so not too bad. I didn’t go out into the large wooded areas because it was logged this year for the pine trees and the fallen branches were everywhere. Tough walking let alone detecting. It was also hunting season.
I just stuck to two of the small pine sapling areas closer to the house. These two areas used to be farm fields back in the day. It was a pain in the butt working around in all of those saplings. I felt like a squirrel looking for a nut. I worked an area that I had never hit too much before in the past. Not a lot of signals, but I was super pleased to score a knapsack hook and other pieces, two small cuff buttons, a thimble, round ball, a large piece of melted lead, and lantern bits. They were in a somewhat small area, so the next time I go back I’m going to concentrate on that area more.
Any idea what the large round iron piece was used for?
Two good laughs during the hunt:
1- I was out there for over 30 minutes before I realized I had accidentally hit the off switch on my headphones. No wonder it was so quiet!
2- I noticed that even one of the pine trees was happy to see me again. LOL. (Sorry, I got a good chuckle when I saw that)
Thanks for looking Folks,
MM
