Hey guys. Just figured I'd share the few pics I was able to pick up here and there off the Internet of the new Deus update. Looks like most of these, if not all, we're taken at the XP Rally over in England over the weekend. Enjoy...

Feel free to add to it if you have more. I especially wanna see a few extreme closeups of that new pinpointer.

I want to see the V4 software changes. My Deus is on layaway as we speak. I'm super excited for the detector and at a time where everyone is excited for the update. I just hope I can get some use before it gets cold and frozen in Michigan.

What do you guys think, elliptical or standard 9" round for the new HF coil? I was thinking the elliptical would be more advantageous and separate better. What are your thoughts?

This is little bit awkward, we have fully wireless detectors with wires in stern. Probably there is some perfectly logic explanation for this i suppose that higher frequencies r soaking battery to quickly , since in small coil not have enough place for bigger battery they put in the stern. So i guess the batteries is at least 3-4 times bigger than standard one. This will also influence balance so maybe that is the reason they move the bolt at back of coil.

I'm thinking the same thing. Look how small that thing is in the first picture. Barely larger than that dude's hand. Probably be good to get up alongside curb strips and old house foundations. And the separation in heavy iron should be second to none, especially with the new and improved reactivity of 2.5 and 3.

Yeah I was thrown off by the white at first, but someone explained that it was because of heat absorption, like out in the desert, looking for gold. Dunno, though. I'm not a heat specialist.

But hey, if there's a noticeable difference in performance, they could paint it pink and put bunny ears on it and I'll swing it with pride. :)

That's something i am curious about. Whether or not there's a wire connecting the battery to the coil. If there is, then it seems like that could be the weak point of this new coil over time. I'm hoping it's some kind of wireless connection, using induction. We shall see.

If u carefully inspect picture No1 u will see place where cable go into the coil under the stern, regarding induction charging even is very desirable i don't think we will see it soon or XP will implement it on their coils already(they still have 2 pin for charging). And yes i will go also with elliptical coil since i want to use it at the beach for small jewellery hunting.

Did they actually demo the coils at that event or just show prototypes sitting on display table?

I saw one video clip where Alain was demonstrating the elliptical coil. He was detecting over a small piece of gold which was laminated onto a piece of cardstock, like a business card. It seemed to pick it up really well.

I love the look of those sexy white coils! :icon_thumright:

If they try selling those coils at 450-500 dollar range then I will just pony up for a Gold Bug 2, or perhaps Makro Gold to have a dedicated unit without batteries in the shaft.

And what the hell, another open coil?! Come on, XP, close that elliptical up!

After closer inspection it appears the elliptical charge clip mounts the standard position, but I cant see anything an the stem. :dontknow:

Hopefully not a noob question, but how come you want the elliptical coil closed. I thought it was better for us to look through?

The charge clip in the same place only makes since.
That way we can use the same clip to charge any of the coils.
As for the battery... What difference does it make that it is in the shaft??
Using unused space to reduce the size needed for the rest of the electronics only makes since also.
I'm sure the "open" design of all of their coils is to reduce weight.
That small "open" elliptical coil looks about the same size as my old whites 6x9...
Maybe a coil cover from one of those will work for those that have a problem with it being open.
I had a few more not so nice things to say to all the complainers out there, but deleted them.
How ever and when ever the V4 and accessories are released is good with me.
I'll use what I have and purchase when it's time.
Until that time it is what it is ...

Good question. :icon_thumright:

Open coils get hung up on rocks, stubble, etc.

If you're hunting very tiny gold items you're going to want to get maximum depth, and gold bearing ground is usually highly mineralized, which limits depth... if that coil is not scrubbing the ground you'd be leaving very valuable gold behind that's still within detection range.

Well a wire running from coil to shaft, no matter how well protected, it's thin and still vulnerable to damage at the pivot point. Imagine pushing that coil through dry scrub. A well placed sharp stick or thorn....goodnight!

Edit* And imagine working a closed vs open coil in the water...think about drag./edit*

At 400 bones it should come with a few coil protectors perhaps, eh?

And as far as weight, it's a 6x9....lmao! How light does it need to be beyond that. :BangHead:
